As if being a 7-foot-3 specimen isn’t enough to intimidate normal people, New York Knicks big man and shooting-guard wannabe Kristaps Porzingis has recently released videos of himself putting in some time to practice a few MMA maneuvers.

It’s not groundbreaking news for NBA players to include some unorthodox regimens to their training –Wesley Matthew is probably doing some yoga right now – and Porzingis picking up a lesson or two when it comes to wrestling and knocking people around should be taken as a loud and clear signal to opposing players looking to get physical with the 22-year-old.

It is at this point that we bring up Marquese Chriss, who might have to think twice before engaging Porzingis in a rematch of their scuffle last year. A large human being with some limb-locking abilities is not someone you want to mess with.

It’s scary what a more physical Kristaps Porzingis could bring to the table. He has progressed well in the two years he spent so far in the pros, averaging 14.3 points in his rookie season and improving on that the following year with 18.1 points per contest.

With visibly more muscle and armed with some MMA moves he could use to battle for rebounds, Porzingis could probably average a double-double for the first time in his young NBA career.
