New York Knicks head coach David Fizdale commended the fan base for sticking with the team through thick and thin, something that has become commonplace for The Big Apple in the last 20 years.

This 2018-19 season though, fans entered it knowing they would be likely missing the playoffs and aware of the possibility of missing their prized forward Kristaps Porzingis for the entire season. Both not only came through, but the organization went on an immediate youth mission, while Porzingis was later traded to the Dallas Mavericks.

Yet the fan base has stuck through and now only hopes for a potential No. 1 selection in the draft or awaits to lure two big-time free agents in the offseason — a hopefulness that has kept the heartbeat alive in an otherwise lost season.

“The fans are amazing, in general,’’ said Fizdale, according to Marc Berman of The New York Post. “So supportive with all the losses. The support I’ve been getting, the team has been getting, has been phenomenal. I commend our fans standing behind us.”

The Knicks have won only 20 percent of their games at 12-48 this season, with 22 more games left, hoping to land among the three-worst records in the league for a chance at the top overall pick and a generational talent in Zion Williamson.

Those hopes have been kept alive by a loyal fan base that has made the Knicks the highest-valued franchise ($4 billion), despite the many losses the team has racked up in the last few years.
