Enes Kanter has never been the biggest fan of LeBron James. They two have had their brushes on the court in the past, and even though the New York Knicks big man has appeared to soften up a bit on his stance about the four-time MVP lately, it does not change the fact that he used to despise The King.

Having said all of that, Kanter went out of his way to congratulate LeBron James for the successful opening of the latter’s I Promise School in Akron Ohio.

Like James, Kanter is an outspoken critic of his own country’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey, who has made a habit of sending members of the opposition to jail. What Kanter is to Erdoğan, James is to US President Donald Trump, who the Los Angeles Lakers forward once referred to as a “bum”. Kanter has also been recently named in Bleacher Report’s list of top 50 most influential people in sports, one that has LeBron James coming in at No. 2 overall.

It’s good to see NBA stars play a big role outside of the basketball court. Kanter and James are two leaders in this kind of endeavor, and hopefully, others will follow suit, too.
