The New York Knicks have started to turn things around a bit after a rough start to the 2021-22 season, and now they're making a trade with the struggling Atlanta Hawks in an attempt to make a playoff rush. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks are acquiring Cam Reddish, Solomon Hill and a 2025 second-round pick via the Brooklyn Nets in a deal for Kevin Knox and a protected 2022 first-round pick via the Charlotte Hornets.
Here are more details on the trade:

With this trade, Reddish joins former Duke teammate RJ Barrett in New York (Zion Williamson next?!) and will hopefully get a bigger opportunity and perhaps a payday in the offseason in the form of a lucrative extension. The first-round pick the Hawks are getting could be used in another trade for more help this season as they try to turn things around. Trade rumors have picked up around Atlanta of late after president Travis Schlenk hinted at changes coming, with Ben Simmons chatter heating up. John Collins has come up in trade rumors amid frustrations with his role.
This trade is somewhat ironic given the Hawks smashed the Knicks in the playoffs last season. Atlanta has been a massive disappointment after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals, sitting at 17-23 on the season in the 12th spot in the East. The Hawks are three games behind the 21-21 Knicks, who are 7-3 in their last 10 games.
Reddish is having the best season of his career, averaging 11.9 points while shooting 40.2% from the field and 37.9% from 3-point range. The 22-year-old still has quite a bit of potential, but it's clear Atlanta wanted to shake things up and probably didn't want to pay up for an extension given the rest of the money tied up in this underachieving roster. We'll also see if Schlenk has something bigger up his sleeve.
