Former NBA big man and college basketball legend Juwan Howard, who was recently named as the next head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, will reportedly be taking New York Knicks assistant Howard Eisley with him.

According to Brendan Quinn of The Athletic, Howard and the Wolverines have already tabbed ex Saint Joseph's head coach Phil Martelli as assistant, with a deal with Eisley set to be completed soon.

As for Eisley and the Knicks, it isn't hard to believe that the former NBA guard is jumping ship from the “Big Apple.” After all. the Knicks have struggled mightily over the course of the last several seasons and currently own the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft — which could still be considered a relative failure considering that they were poised to get the No.1 overall pick.

With their pick and a pair of free agent slots for two max contracts this offseason, the Knicks could very well rise from mediocrity and finally contend for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. Nonetheless, there are no guarantees when it comes to the NBA and specifically free agency, and it doesn't help that New York's history of dysfunction has been well documented throughout the years.
