For New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau, the only way to improve is to not rush things but rather, take it one step at a time. In his first year as the Knicks head coach, this is his “big challenge” to his young squad.

After the Knicks' 116-109 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, Thibodeau quickly reiterated the need to practice again. He noted how the long haul of the regular season prevents teams from getting to practice.

As for the challenge, Thibs pointed out that they have to pick out a couple of things they deem most important and work on it throughout the course of the year.

“We worked on our defense for a while and then covered some offensive things we wanted to work on,” Thibodeau said, per Peter Botte of the New York Post.  “The main thing was trying to get up and down and practice out of the full court. I felt we needed work in that area, as well.

“I think the big challenge is when you have a number of areas that you’d like to shore up you have to prioritize. You can’t work on all of them every day. So you pick three or four things that you’d like to get into and improve upon and that’s what we did.”

Statistics reveal in the first three games of the season, the Knicks did a pretty decent job of holding their foes to 43.4 percent shooting from the field and 29.8 percent from downtown. But in their four-game skid thus far, the numbers have climbed to 48.6 percent overall and 39.0 percent.

The Knicks have a chance to snap their losing streak on Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
