The New York Knicks are in dire need of a change, and that change might come in the form of Masai Ujiri.

According to Steve Popper of Newsday, there are rumors that the Toronto Raptors are fearing that president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri could make the transfer to New York should the Knicks come knocking on his door.

But based on comments made by numerous people in Toronto on Wednesday, many in the Raptors’ organization believe that the changes could come higher on the organizational chart and that if the Knicks’ struggles continue, at season’s end, Dolan will make an effort to convince Masai Ujiri to come to New York. And the fear within the Raptors’ organization is that Ujiri will go.

Of course, leaving a winning situation in Toronto to go to an absolute dumpster fire organization in New York would be such a smart career move for the former executive of the year. I mean, who wouldn't want to jump in on that fiasco? A circus can be fun, right?

Jokes aside, there's likely no truth to this rumor considering just how good of a situation Ujiri is in with Toronto right now.

The Nigerian-born executive has done a magnificent job in his six years with the Canada-based squad. He was responsible for the franchise altering moves that ultimately led them to their first ever NBA championship last season.

The appeal of going to a bigger market in New York will always be a possible reason for Ujiri to consider bolting Toronto. New York could give his program, Basketball Without Borders, a bigger stage as he aims to help out children in his home continent in Africa.

However, this alone might not be enough to convince the 49-year old to leave the Raptors. His situation with Toronto is just too good to walk away from. Just compare the two.

The Knicks have been in rebuild mode in what seems like forever. Meanwhile, the Raptors are in somewhat of a transition phase following the departure of Leonard this past summer.

Still, despite the loss of Leonard, the Raptors have managed to keep their standing as one of the elite teams in the East. This is thanks in part of Ujiri's amazing work as an executive in finding hidden gems in the draft and developing unproven and unknown prospects.

This is an absolute no-brainer. Put this rumor to bed right ASAP.
