New York Knicks swingman RJ Barrett has somewhat hit the dreaded rookie wall early in the 2019-20 NBA regular season campaign.

The 6-foot-6 rookie out of Duke University has had some good games for the Knicks so far, but he continues to struggle with consistent due to his unfamiliarity with the pro game. Still, the 19-year-old Canadian remains upbeat, especially after getting some great advise from his countryman and NBA Hall of Famer Steve Nash.

Barett, who is the godson of the two-time MVP, shared what Nash told him in a clip from SNY.

“He told me to stay the course. There's gonna be some highs and lows. He told me that he's actually happy to see me go through some adversity. It will make me stronger especially for the long run,” Barett said.

RJ Barrett has actually been solid in the Knicks' uplifting 4-6 swing in their last 10 games. He was phenomenal in New York's close 132-135 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center on Sunday, tallying 24 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field and 1-of-2 from three to go along with six boards in 37 minutes.

His stock in the current Rookie Ladder dipped a bit after averaging just 10.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in the last six games where the Knicks amassed a 3-3 slate.

Barrett can do a lot of things on the court and can play multiple positions, but he has yet to discover his true identity on the floor with the Knicks.  He also has to find a way to improve his efficiency from the field, making 38.9 percent of his field goals and just 31.5 from 3-point territory.
