College basketball superstar RJ Barrett expressed strong interest in starting his NBA career in New York.

According to Kevin Kernan of The New York Post, Barrett said that he would love to play in New York because he loves the city and he is very familiar with the Big Apple. The Duke University superstar revealed that he is very excited about the chance of playing in one of the most popular cities in the world.

“New York is my favorite,” Barrett said when asked about the possibility of playing in New York. “Every summer I visited. I have family there. That's where my mom grew up, so I've definitely been there a lot.”

The 18-year-old prospect will likely get his wish, as the New York Knicks own the third pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Knicks will pick behind the New Orleans Pelicans and the Memphis Grizzlies, respectively. The Grizzlies are expected to select consensus top pick Zion Williamson, while the Grizzlies are tipped to take Ja Morant.

Barrett, who averaged 22.6 points and 7.6 rebounds with Duke, confirmed that he has sat down with Knicks officials, including head coach David Fizdale, during the Draft Combine in Chicago. He said that he was impressed with the team management and Fizdale, whom he called a “good coach” during his interview.
