Multiple teams believe New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball's younger brother, LaMelo Ball, wants to get drafted by the New York Knicks, per Ian Begley of SNY.

If the Knicks end up with a pick outside the top three in the 2020 draft, they will probably have to trade up to draft Ball, who is one of the best draft prospects in the entire 2020 class.

As teams do their homework on players in the draft, there’s been a consistent theme about LaMelo Ball: multiple teams believe Ball and those in his circle prefer that he lands in New York. (Those teams have picks projected later in the first round than the Knicks, for what it’s worth.)

The New York Post reported last month that some in the NBA believe LaVar Ball will try to ‘steer’ LaMelo to the Knicks. But the report didn’t suggest how Ball would actually do that.

Ball played 12 games in the NBL this season before suffering a foot injury. He averaged 17.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists.

The Knicks are in desperate need of more talent on their roster. The franchise has been a walking disaster over the past couple of years. In fact, the last Knicks team to have a winning record and make the playoffs was the 2012-13 squad.

Because of Ball's outspoken father, LaVar, some teams might be hesitant to draft LaMelo. We'll see if the Knicks fall under that category when it's time for the 2020 draft.
