Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum has strictly been linked to the New Orleans Pelicans ahead of the February 10th NBA Trade Deadline. Well, a new team has emerged as a possible landing spot for the veteran. Per Marc Stein, the New York Knicks are believed to be a suitor for McCollum:
The most interesting trade scenario I heard all weekend: Two rival teams say that the Knicks are emerging as a legitimate trade suitor for Portland’s CJ McCollum. The Pelicans, until now, have been most frequently mentioned as the leaders of the McCollum chase if another trade materializes for the Trail Blazers after their Friday deal with the LA Clippers to send out Norman Powell and Robert Covington.

This could actually be an interesting move for the Knicks if it did materialize. Kemba Walker is rumored to be on his way out of New York and perhaps, he will be included in a package that goes back to Portland. Who knows. As for backcourt depth, Tom Thibodeau's squad doesn't have a lot right now. Derrick Rose is still hurt while Alec Burks isn't exactly the most productive. RJ Barrett is about the only legitimate force they have right now running the point.
McCollum is averaging 20.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 4.3 rebounds this season on 38% shooting from downtown. He'd definitely be a nice addition to the Knicks, but it's just chatter at this point. We'll have to see if something materializes in the coming days. Needless to say, NY could absolutely use another three-level scorer.
