Front offices around the league are going back and forth in trade negotiations right now with the 2022 NBA Draft just hours away. Rumors are the New York Knicks are heavily involved as the organization is attempting to make some big moves in free agency. For that reason, it sounds like they're attempting to send Evan Fournier back to the Boston Celtics.

According to John Gambadoro, New York has apparently offered Fournier to Boston already. The idea is for the Knicks to clear up cap space to pursue Jalen Brunson, who has been a rumored target for the organization all offseason. This trade offer of course is speculation for now, but it might be a difficult one to pull off, as his contract situation doesn't line up well with the Celtics.

It's a messy scenario with numbers all over the place, but Kieth Smith summarizes it perfectly. For the Knicks to successfully trade Evan Fournier to the Celtics, the deal would have to be finalized by June 30. If the negotiations don't pan out and we hit July 1, then New York likely can't send Fournier to his former team via trade. The way his contract works out, Boston won't be able to afford the efficient shooter to join the roster.
