Even though they never played together, the Lakers‘ 2016 number two overall draft pick Brandon Ingram has been linked to the recently retired Kobe Bryant. Ingram's highly anticipated career begins just as Bryant's ends, and the Duke product even took over Kobe's old locker.

Bryant was already praising Ingram before the Lakers drafted him, and those feelings have only grown since.

In a recent interview with TWC Sportsnet's Mike Bresnahan, Bryant expressed his desire to help train some of the Lakers' young players. He already knows guys like D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, and Julius Randle, but he's particularly intrigued by Ingram:

“I think he plays with great tempo, great pace. I like his length. His ball-handling ability is very good. He can get to spots on the floor.

“I think defensively he has the potential to be fantastic as well. He has long arms, long legs. So hopefully he starts really paying attention to that as much as the things he can do offensively.”

Nobody expects Ingram to have the same type of career that Kobe had. That would be ridiculous, and frankly unfair. But, when the Black Mamba sings your praises, the Purple & Gold faithful listen, and they're accustomed to witnessing greatness.
