Since retiring at the end of last year’s regular season, Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant has made minimal public appearances, which makes his attendance at an event in Mexico on Friday that much more special.

The event was organized by billionaire Carlos Slim and was held at the National Auditorium, in-front of a youthful audience.

During his appearance, the future Hall Of Famer shared his thoughts on hot issues in the world of sports, such as San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s controversial protests during the national anthem before NFL games.

The 18-time All Star went on to discuss his time in the NBA and his future business endeavours. The highly cultured superstar impressed many by answering questions in English and Spanish.

Interestingly, Bryant discussed the idea of leadership and how his influence on younger players will determine his legacy:

“As you get older, you understand that really what is timeless is inspiring the next person,” he said. “Then that person inspires another and so on, and you create something that lasts forever.”

Bryant was not the only star in attendance; another Hollywood legend, Sylvester Stallone, was there, as well as Spanish soccer hero Carlos Puyol and boxer Misael Rodriquez.
