The NHL season is nearing its end and the Seattle Kraken won't be participating in the playoffs. However, some exciting news has come to fruition for this franchise, as Seattle legends Marshawn Lynch and Macklemore take on a role with the team for the better.

According to CNBC, Marshawn Lynch and Macklemore have become minority owners of the franchise. It's an exciting development for the city of Seattle, as these two can help the Kraken expand its reach within the city. CEO Todd Leiweke explains why Lynch and Macklemore are the perfect fit as minority investors.

“For us, we didn't need additional investors, but the thing that attracted us to these guys was their interest in community activism through this organization, and that's a big deal.” Kraken CEO Todd Leiweke.

The former Seattle Seahawks star Marshawn Lynch expresses how grateful he is for the opportunity to become an owner of the Kraken. “This is something I never would have imagined. I always dreamed of playing on a professional team but owning one is something special. As I look back on some of my accomplishments — I retired before I was 30 and now being an owner of a professional club at the age of 35 – I'm gonna continue to count my blessings.”

Lynch is going to partake in the NHL's “Hockey is for Everyone” campaign to help, “drive diversity and inclusion awareness,” while also learning the business side of the sport by shadowing Todd Leiweke, per CNBC.

The new Kraken owners showed off their appreciation as well. Macklemore dressed down in full team attire and skated on the rink in the practice facility. Meanwhile, Marshawn Lynch took the Zamboni for a spin.

This is an awesome moment for Lynch and Macklemore, as each of them has contributed to the city of Seattle in so many ways. Now, they can continue being public figures for the city as minority owners of the Kraken. Keep an eye on this franchise, as this team is slowly trending up.
