Several petitions to have the white supremacist group Ku Klux Klan abolished have been spreading online. Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso got word of this and was puzzled why a petition is needed in the first place.

Via Twitter, Alex Caruso shared the news item and his concurrent confusion and frustration.

The New York Post reported that several petitions to abolish the KKK have made rounds online. One petition from change.org has garnered 892,662 signatures as of writing.

“The Ku Klux Klan is a white supremacist hate group with historic background of terrorism, including countless physical assaults and murders. The KKK is still active in certain parts of the country and has public rallies. Hate should not be a way to bring communities together, nor should it be allowed or tolerated,” the petition reads.

Alex Caruso's tweet was met by replies from his fans. Some, the like tweet below, offered the harsh truth on how deep the race problem is in America.

Others, meanwhile, slipped in some humor to praise Alex Caruso.

And of course, there's a Jordan meme from The Last Dance which have been widely utilized by basketball diehards.

The Lakers guard has been vocal about the racial tensions happening in the US. Alex Caruso actually appeared on The Morning Show with Keyshawn, LZ and Travis where he shared his thoughts on the matter. For him, he felt that he needed to speak and was:

“‘was blessed and fortunate to grow up with that word that everybody talks about, with the privilege.”

Alex Caruso is not just one hell of a basketball player, but he's a great human being as well.
