Despite having a short offseason to integrate key players into their rotation, the Los Angeles Lakers have gotten to a strong start, racing to an NBA-best 13-4 record, including a franchise-best 9-0 start on the road.

Aside from picking up win after win, another sign of the team’s strong chemistry early on is that their players don’t leave their teammates hanging for high-fives unlike they did in the past.

During the Lakers’ 101-90 win over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, big man Montrezl Harrell fell to the floor during one sequence and was picked up by teammates Alex Caruso, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Wesley Matthews. As he rose up, Horton-Tucker tried to give Harrell a high-five, which the reigning Sixth Man of the Year apparently didn’t see as he walked past him.

That was when Caruso came to save the day, taking the sophomore’s hand and making sure that it is able to high-five Harrell’s. Just when it looked like Horton-Tucker was about to join the list of NBA players who were left hanging by their teammates, most notably former Laker, and New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Hart, Caruso proved that he was a consummate teammate.

The former Texans A&M guard finished with just three points, one rebound, and two assists in 18 minutes of play against the Bulls, but he helped the team pick up another win while also giving an assist to his younger teammate by making sure he didn’t get left hanging.

The Lakers continue their road trip against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, where Caruso hopes that none of his teammates will get left hanging.
