Like every young NBA player when they first came into the league, Los Angeles Lakers reserve Alex Caruso also had his own “Welcome to the NBA” moment.

Caruso certainly learned that he was indeed the big leagues after trying to defend one of the best players on the planet in Kevin Durant.

Speaking with Evan Daniels of 247 Sports, AC recalled what it was like matching up with the one-time league MVP back in his rookie year with the Purple and Gold in the 2017-18 season.

Alex Caruso shared that the Lakers went with a small lineup against the Golden State Warriors at that time, as he shared the floor with then teammates Isaiah Thomas and Lonzo Ball. The 6-foot-5 guard was tasked to match-up against the much taller KD.

“As soon as I pick up at full-court he's (Durant) coming down the court and looks around. He just yells ‘Hey give me the ball',” Caruso shared.

According to AC, Durant went one-for-two from the field during under his watch so he still considers that as a big win.

Caruso, meanwhile, has come a long way since then and has evolved into an integral part of the Lakers bench in their magnificent 2019-20 campaign.

Referred to as “The Bald Mamba” by the Lakers nation, Caruso became a crowd favorite and an internet sensation for his energy and the intensity he brings to the game.

The Texas A&M alum went undrafted in 2016 and paid his dues in the G-League before earning a spot in head coach Frank Vogel's rotation.

Caruso is averaging 5.4 points on 42.4 percent shooting from the field and 35.5 percent from downtown in 58 games prior to the league suspension.
