Los Angeles Lakers big man Andre Drummond had a rather strange journey to end up with the infamous Purple and Gold franchise. Once thought to be a future top-tier talent in the NBA, he's star dimmed slightly the last few seasons.

In an absolutely wonderful piece from The Ringer's Mirin Fader, which is an absolute must-read, Drummond opened up about how he's viewing his stint with the Lakers.

“It was a chance to start over again,” Andre Drummond says of his opportunity with the Lakers, who he signed with in March after clearing waivers. “I owed it to myself to be part of something bigger than me. To be part of a team that has a chance to win. And I believe that the Lakers can do that.”

Plenty of other franchises were after his services after a wayward stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, following some off-and-on good runs with the Detroit Pistons, but with the NBA play-in games happening, then the playoffs, the biggest franchise in the league won out.

Depending on what happens in the next few hours, Andre Drummond might have a chance to be a part of something bigger than himself. And, honestly, the Los Angeles Lakers are counting on it.
