The absence of Anthony Davis has caused a lot of chaos for the Los Angeles Lakers. Although the star big man could not possibly fix everything plaguing the team, he would be a fantastic help on the court and possibly have the Lakers in a much more favorable position in the Western Conference standings.

Davis is dealing with a sprained foot right now, and he has been sidelined since the All-Star break because of it. After having his medical boot taken off a few days ago, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel told reporters that is set to resume on-court activities. Although this doesn't mean he will definitely return this season, it is a very positive sign.

Davis claims that the injury could have been worse if he had not taken the course of action that he did. Although his absence has fed into the narrative that he's made of glass, he may have saved himself from a much more severe injury. His long-term health is of the utmost importance.

In just 37 games this season, Davis is averaging 23.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 blocks per game. The Lakers star shooting a career-high 53.7 percent from the field and 18.2 percent from deep, which is his career-low among seasons where he averaged one full 3-point attempt per game.

The Lakers, at 29-27, are in ninth place in the conference. Their season has been the definition of brutal. A deep playoff run isn't impossible given how good LeBron James has been as of late, but it won't cover up for this season's endless disappointment.
