New Los Angeles Lakers recruit Anthony Davis had a pretty forgettable shooting night on Wednesday, as he logged just eight points on 3-of-9 from the floor. The six-time All-Star also missed both of his attempts from distance, as he capped off a mediocre performance for his new side.

Despite his low scoring output, though, the Lakers still managed to blow out a Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors side, 126-93. Following the convincing victory, Davis joked about how his new team still managed to take such a huge lead despite his poor play:

This does sound a bit like a veiled shot at Davis' former team, the New Orleans Pelicans. We all know how Davis was the cornerstone superstar of the Pelicans, and how the team relied so heavily on his production night in and night out. He did have some noteworthy teammates along the way — Jrue Holiday and DeMarcus Cousins, to name a few — but there is no doubt that the team's success was determined mainly by Davis' performances.

It's a whole different story for him in L.A., as he slides in alongside three-time NBA champion LeBron James. With the Lakers, Davis can now afford some off nights — similar to the one he had on Wednesday, although he did still manage 10 rebounds, eight assists, a steal, and two blocks — and his team can still come away with the victory.

Such is the luxury of playing alongside another superstar, and it appears that Anthony Davis is already loving it at this point.
