Los Angeles Lakers fans made sure to shower Austin Reaves with the love and recognition he deserves after the youngster powered the Purple and Gold to a crucial victory against the Orlando Magic on Sunday.
Reaves exploded for 35 points in the game, going 9-of-14 from the field and making 16 of his 18 attempts from the free throw line en route to his big night. The Lakers led by as much as 16 points in the game, and that's thanks in huge part to Reaves who even scored 13 in the final quarter to keep LA in front until the final buzzer.
With the game all but secured in the closing seconds, and with Reaves on the charity stripe, Lakers fans at Crypto.com Arena started chanting âMVPâ as a tribute to the 24-year-old. He may be far from being the MVP of the season, but on Sunday, there was no doubt he was the most valuable player for the Lakers on the court.

Lakers fans who watched the game at home also didn't miss out on the celebrations and heaped praises on Austin Reaves, and rightfully so. Even LeBron James had a crazy, NSFW reaction to the big night of his Lakers teammate, saying he is âtoughâ and a bad âMUTHAâŠSHUT YO MOUTH!!!â
The Lakers really needed that performance from Reaves after losing their previous two games. With the win, they stay in Play-In contention with a legitimate shot at the Top 6 seed.
That's what MVPs do, indeed.
