LeBron James got to the top of the basketball world due to talent and sheer hard work. Brian Shaw, associate head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, admitted to this fact and shared that his work ethic has rubbed into his teammates and staff members as well.

Shaw spoke to Joey Ramirez of Lakers.com and shared bits about James — the most prolific new member of the purple and gold. As transcribed by Christian Rivas of Silver Screen and Roll, Shaw revealed that James has set the tone for everyone else on the Lakers. James is the best player in the league simply because he's also the guy who works the hardest:

“It’s a coach’s dream to have a player like him who’s the best player in the league, the best player on our team, and also a guy that works the hardest. He sets the tone with his work ethic, it rubs off on everybody else, and so it makes it easier for us as a coaching staff to say ‘hey, if the best player in the world can do this and go at the intensity level that he’s doing it, there’s no excuse for anybody else not to.’”

Shaw also reminisced on his playing days, especially when he was teammates with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. Shaw admitted that with them, he felt like he was better than he was, noting that James brought the same presence with the current Lakers team. Everyone knows that they are stepping on the court with the best player in the world, and everything else follows.
