Everyone and their mama knows the iconic Substitute Teacher sketch from Key & Peele. Even Carmelo Anthony of the Los Angeles Lakers knows the line – “You done messed up, A-Aron!”
That’s why Melo couldn’t hold back the laughter during his latest appearance in The Shop: Uninterrupted which featured the Lakers forward, as well as funny men Keegan-Michael Key and Jason Sudeikis.
Key was asked about his experience creating sketches for Key & Peele, specifically for ones that he may not have anticipated would be as successful as they were – and of course he went to Substitute Teacher.
“Listen I didn’t know Substitute Teacher was going to do that,” Key said. “I knew it was a solid sketch. Premise, escalation, good button. It had all the right ingredients. I didn’t know it was going to turn into this. I didn’t know people were going to be yelling ‘A-Aron’ at me down the street.”
Just at the mere mention of “A-Aron”, the Lakers star went into hysterics and laughed til he couldn’t even face the camera.
You and us all, Melo. That’s how everyone was watching that sketch for the first time. Lakers fans are surely hoping Carmelo Anthony and the rest of the team can have as much fun on the court as well as the start of the season fast approaches.
