A lowkey affair between the Los Angeles Lakers and Detroit Pistons turned in national headlines when LeBron James and Isaiah Stewart got involved in a heated skirmish of sorts.

LeBron was ejected earlier in the third quarter with the Lakers facing a double-digit deficit that the Pistons carried into the fourth quarter. But instead of letting their emotions get the best of them, LA's veterans in Carmelo Anthony, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook kept the team composed and led the rally back for a 121-116 win.

Melo spoke out on LeBron James' ejection after the game—and the silver lining it came with in bringing the purple and gold together.

Via Mike Trudell:

“In the midst of that battle – or whatever you want to call it. In the midst of the storm, it's just a matter of keeping everybody composed,” said the Lakers veteran. “We could've easily let the game slip away. But as a team we needed to come together at that moment.”

“It's unfortunate about what happened, but we needed something like that to spark our fire. We haven't had anything like that to test us from a physical standpoint. Although like I said, it's unfortunate what happened but we needed that to spark something – and it did.”

The Lakers entered the fourth quarter down 15 but found a way to win it despite LeBron James being ejected from the contest. The circumstances may not be great, but perhaps as Carmelo Anthony said, this incident could be the spark they need going forward.
