Seeing Carmelo Anthony in Los Angeles Lakers colors is a sight to behold. After donning several uniforms over the years, the 10-time All-Star is set to don purple and gold.

The newest Lakers star spoke effusively about moving from New York to Los Angeles, from difference in market to the color change itself. A change he knows a certain Kobe Bean Bryant would be really happy about.

Via Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated:

“It’s different in a great way,” Anthony said of playing for the Lakers. “I was fortunate enough to play in New York, an organization in a big city, in a big market. But those colors are totally different. Blue and orange are different than purple and gold. Being in LA, you really feel that. I know my brother Kobe is smiling right now.”

There’s little doubt that’s exactly how Kobe Bryant would feel if he heard about the move. Kobe and Melo famously butted heads in the epic 2009 Western Conference Finals between the Lakers and the Nuggets.

Seeing his former rival turn into a key cog for a contending Lakers team would definitely bring out Kobe’s famous smile. Carmelo Anthony will want to keep giving him more to smile about with a big season in LA.
