Kyle Lowry's name continues to be thrown around as one of the possible acquisitions of the Los Angele Lakers in the offseason. But aside from the Toronto Raptors veteran, the Lakers are also reportedly looking at another seasoned playmaker, as possible insurance if Dennis Schroder packs his bags out of Hollywood.

ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski said the Lakers are still snooping around for Schroder's probable replacement. But the guard from Germany could very well stay with the Purple & Gold. Still, it's not set in stone, especially with other guys being floated around. Case in point: Minnesota Timberwolves PG Ricky Rubio (via Heavy).

“Listen, he’s (Schroder) got options, again, Chicago (Bulls) and New York (Knicks). I still think in the end there’s a deal to be made for him to stay with the Lakers. Because, all of the sudden, now you’re talking about, ‘Could we go get Ricky Rubio?’ Like, some good players, but I still think Schroder is a player who moves the needle, and let’s get him out of a COVID season, get him back with a training camp with this team, and it’s probably going to look at a lot different.”

Wojnarowski may have simply mentioned Rubio's name in passing, but him joining the Lakers doesn't sound too crazy at this point. He could also fit well, as he doesn't need to take a lot of shots and just focus on setting the table for LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

It's quite clear though that the Schroder situation won't end soon for the Lakers.
