Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green appreciates Los Angeles Lakers superstar small forward LeBron James for a lot of reasons.

Green says James being at the forefront of the player empowerment era is great. The Warriors All-Star claims James signing with the Miami Heat in the summer of 2010 is “one of the most powerful moves in sports history today.”

“It's meant a lot,” Green said of James' advocacy, via ESPN. “[People thought] he made one of the biggest mistakes in his career [in 2010] when he decided to take his talents to South Beach. And it ended up being one of the most powerful moves in sports history today.”

Since LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh teamed up in South Beach, players around the league began to understand that they have just as much power as the owners do. Multiple superstars in the NBA have since changed teams via free agency or by requesting trades in a bid to compete for championships.

After LeBron signed with the Lakers in the summer of 2018, fans were looking forward to seeing the Purple and Gold and the Warriors square off in the playoffs. However, James and the Lakers missed the playoffs last season after The King missed a large chunk of the campaign due to a groin injury.

This season, the Lakers are on their way to making the postseason again, as they currently top the Western Conference standings with a 26-7 record. LeBron is leading the way for the Lakers, though he has gotten some much needed help from All-Star big man Anthony Davis.

The Warriors will likely miss the playoffs this season for the first time in the Steve Kerr era. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are out with injuries and Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala are no longer on the team.
