Lakers’ Frank Vogel declares Rajon Rondo team leader in this off-the-wall category
Per Sean Highkin of Bleacher Report, Vogel described how Rondo’s presence has affected the entire team.
Frank Vogel on Rajon Rondo: “His impact on our team is measured in swag.”

In their Game 2 victory, Rondo logged in 10 points, three rebounds, nine assists, and five steals across 29 minutes of action. It was a great bounce-back performance from Game 1 where he had just eight points, three rebounds, four assists.
Given that Game 1 was his first game back since March, there were even whispers that Rondo might have disrupted the Lakers’ rhythm. But these criticisms were silenced after Rondo’s great Game 2 showing.
When the Lakers acquired Rondo in 2018, many Lakers fans were delighted. Though Rondo had been jumping from team to team ever since his stint with the Boston Celtics ended, he was still considered one of the best pure point guards in the league.
In his resume is a title ring—a milestone he reached in just his second year in the league. After winning the title, the Celtics never left the radar as a legitimate title threat. Rondo, too, gained the respect of the entire league as a very high-IQ player. Apart from this, he amassed a wealth of basketball knowledge from the Hall of Fame trio of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen.
Vogel’s choice words for Rondo clearly point out how the guard is one of the most important players in the team. Whenever he’s around, the Lakers always have a shot.
Game 3 between the Rockets and the Lakers will be on Tuesday.
