Two nights after knocking off the Milwaukee Bucks in a battle of the NBA top seeds, the Los Angeles Lakers are set to take on their city rivals in a clash between Western Conference juggernauts.

While the game against the Los Angeles Clippers certainly holds great importance for the Lakers, head coach Frank Vogel isn't worried about a loss affecting the team's confidence.

“The regular season games, at the end of the day, when the playoffs come around don’t really matter,” Vogel said, per Melissa Rohlin of Sports Illustrated. “For us, it’s just about getting better and believing that every time we take the floor, we can beat anybody when we’re at our best. And no matter what happens tomorrow is going to change that.”

A loss to the Clippers on Sunday would mean that the Lakers would move to 0-3 against their rivals on the season with one more matchup in April remaining. The Clips last swept the the Purple and Gold during the 2015-16 season.

Both Los Angeles teams made major moves this offseason and were supposed to be championship contenders this 2019-20. That premonition has largely come true, as both LA franchises occupy the top two seeds in the West.

But while the Clippers are on the verge of possibly sweeping the season series, the Lakers have the advantage when it comes to overall record this season at 48-13.
