As part of a recent interview with ESPN, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel revealed how he plans to slow down Denver Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic.

Jokic is widely-viewed as one of the more versatile centers in the NBA. At seven feet and 280 pounds, he is a force to be reckoned with in the paint. However, the Serbian big man is also a great facilitator, and he's developed a great touch from the perimeter.

For Vogel, stopping Jokic is a tall order. Still the Lakers head coach has a plan, and it involves JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard.

Via ESPN's Dave McMenamin:

“‘Joker' is one of the most unique players in the world, and one of the most unique players ever to play the center position in this league,” Vogel said Wednesday. “He can basically hurt you in all ways. He can hurt you at the 3-point line, in the pocket, playing the 4-on-3 game in the post, and obviously with his passing.

“It does make this series a little different — a lot different, actually — in terms of how much we'll use our centers. I don't want to get too much into detail, but obviously we're going to be the L.A. Lakers, who we've been all year. We adjusted to a small-ball team last series, but I would expect us to return to form.”

The Lakers won three of their four regular season meetings with the Nuggets during the regular season. Los Angeles' lone loss to Denver came in their third bout — a game in which LeBron James did not play due to a thoracic muscle strain.

In their previous series against the Rockets, the Lakers managed to play small-ball with efficiency, winning the series in five games. Now, with Jokic on the opposing side, Vogel will likely be forced to play his bigs.
