Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has confirmed that point guard Rajon Rondo has arrived in Orlando, Florida following his successful thumb surgery.

If Rondo returns seven consecutive negative COVID-19 tests, he can re-join the Lakers in the Disney bubble with a four-day quarantine. That would have him back with the team before the start of the 2020 playoffs on Aug. 17, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

Rondo appeared in 48 games for the Lakers before the season was suspended in March. The four-time All-Star and one-time champion averaged 7.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 65.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers have clinched the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference standings. The remaining seeding games will be important for the team, though, especially as they continue to knock off the rust and prepare for the postseason.

Once the playoffs start, Los Angeles will be one of the favorites to win the title with superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the charge.

Aside from James, Dwight Howard, Danny Green, JaVale McGee, Quinn Cook and Rajon Rondo have championship experience. With that said, the Lakers are counting on Rondo to play at a high-level off the bench for them in the postseason.
