Marc Gasol's new deal with the Los Angeles Lakers is worth $5.3 million over two years and doesn't have a player or team option on the second season, per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

The deal is bargain pickup for the Lakers, with the Spanish big man bringing his experience and veteran presence to the locker room. Gasol is coming off a stint with the Toronto Raptors, where he played a pivotal role in their championship run back in the 2018-2019 season.

The Canada-based squad eventually failed to defend their title after succumbing to the Boston Celtics in seven games in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Gasol recorded averages of 7.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 44 games played primarily as a starter for the team during last year's regular season.

Gasol is about to head to a Lakers squad with a revamped frontcourt rotation. Dwight Howard took his talents to the Philadelphia 76ers after a mishap with the Lakers, while JaVale McGee was just traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in order to bring in Gasol.

Gasol is poised to play alongside a fellow newcomer in reigning Sixth Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell, who came over from the Los Angeles Clippers. Meanwhile, star big man Anthony Davis is expected to sign a new deal in the very near future.

The Lakers are hopeful that Marc Gasol's arrival to the team will help them better their chances of claiming their second straight title in the 2020-2021 NBA season.
