Before the 2019-20 NBA season was suspended, the Los Angeles Lakers were creeping up on the Milwaukee Bucks — the team that had the best regular-season record. Analysts quickly saw the Lakers' momentum building up and deemed them the team with the best chance to win it all. Those donning the Purple and Gold had the gut feel, too. Most especially veteran forward Jared Dudley who believes that this season is his best chance to win a title.

In an interview with Allie Clifton of Spectrum Sportsnet, Dudley shared is how desperate he is to return to the Lakers in the event that the 2019-20 season is canceled. As transcribed by Christian Rivas of SB Nation, Dudley said that he'll go straight to Lakers' owner Jeanie Buss' office to ink ask for a new contract.

“It’s sad because this has been my best chance to win to be able to win a championship — it’s been the best team. So I’ve already decided: listen, if somehow there’s a closure, I’m going to Jeanie Buss’s office because I’m coming back! You can’t get rid of me if you wanted to! I’ve got to be able to come back and experience this: we’ve got the best fans, the No. 1 seed, a chance to play with LeBron and AD and win a championship.”

The 34-year-old inked a one-year, veteran minimum deal last summer. Dudley hasn't played a lot of games in the 2019-20 season. Despite this, he's content with his role as one of the team's veteran voices. He's also keeping himself ready whenever Lakers coach Frank Vogel calls his name.
