Recently, there was some doubt cast over whether or not a mural of late Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna would still be standing in the near future. However, it seems that a new development will keep the Los Angeles mural up for the long haul, allowing Bryant to continue to be honored in grand fashion.

The news came when Ronnie Singh, known to gaming fans as Ronnie 2K, announced that the mural will be rededicated this week because of a pledge by NBA 2K, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

After the news was announced, Jeanie Buss, the owner of the Lakers, took to X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) to thank Ronnie 2K.

The mural, which depicts Kobe and Gianna Bryant in the clouds with angel wings, is located at 400 W. Pico Blvd in downtown Los Angeles.

Kobe Bryant established himself as one of the most iconic players in NBA history during his multi-decade career with the Lakers that spanned the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. Bryant won five championships during his tenure with the Lakers and also had several other memorable moments, including an 81-point scoring game, which is still the second-highest mark in NBA history, as well as a 60-point game in the final contest of his career in 2016.

Bryant and his daughter Gianna tragically passed away along with several others in a January 2020 helicopter crash outside of Los Angeles. With murals like this, their memory is sure to live on in the hearts of Lakers nation and the rest of the world.
