Arguably, not since LeBron James back in 2003 has a rookie endured the kind of pressure and high expectations that Lonzo Ball of the Los Angeles Lakers is currently dealing with in his first NBA season.

That added pressure of being a potential superstar in the making along with everything his controversial father, LaVar, has put on him hasn't made the transition to the next level an easier. He's dealt with constant criticism and a lot of players around the league putting a target on his back which would be difficult for anyone let alone a highly-touted rookie.

Teammate Jordan Clarkson recently talked about Ball and the fact he's got great support while going through everything that has come his way thus far in his rookie campaign, via Bill Oram of the OC Register.

“He’s got a lot of support,” fourth-year Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson said. “It’s definitely good for him, though. I feel like he needs that. People around the league, they want to take shots at him, all kinds of (stuff). Just having that whole support system I feel is good for him.”

Although Ball has been racking up the assists and been a better rebounder than expected, the rookie has struggled in the scoring department as his shot as yet to come around on a consistent basis. Ball's awkward shooting form doesn't help matters as many are quick to point that out as the primary reason behind his shooting woes early in the 2017-18 NBA season.

Despite all the criticism and added attention, good and bad, Ball has endured and is coming off a historic performance. The UCLA product is now the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double as he finished with 19 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds in the loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Obviously, that's an impressive, especially with the fact he passes LeBron for the distinction as youngest to accomplish the feat (20 years and 15 days). Unfortunately, it came in a loss. The Lakers have now lost three straight games and will look to get back on track on Monday in the final game of their road trip against the Phoenix Suns.
