The Los Angeles Lakers had a special visitor at practice on Friday. 12-time Grammy award winner Kendrick Lamar stopped by the Lakers' practice facility as part of the Genius talk series.

Lamar is one of the best rappers currently and has a close relationship with Lakers superstar LeBron James.

James has often said Lamar's music and lyrics hit home for him because he grew up in a rough environment as a kid. The four-time MVP went into detail on BET.com about how much Kendrick Lamar and his songs mean to him back in the 2017 playoffs:

“And it hit home for me at times because I was a kid that grew up in the inner city,” James said. “And his story of the notion of you either play basketball or sell drugs or that’s it. There’s no out. You become a statistic. And as an African-American kid growing up in the inner city, they don’t believe that you can get out and become something. So, that’s why I’m able to relate to a lot of his lyrics. And relate to a lot of his stories. The guy is an unbelievable talent. His wordplay and his lyrics is unbelievable.”

James and the Lakers lost to the Portland Trail Blazers Thursday night. Coming back to Los Angeles and kicking it with Kendrick Lamar is a nice way for the team to get over the loss.
