During his playing days in the NBA, Lamar Odom had his best run with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2004 to 2011. He was a vital cog to their back-to-back title wins, and was also named a Sixth Man of the Year winner, which shows the impact he made in his stint with the team.

Despite last playing in the league back in 2013, the 37-year-old Rhode Island product has not officially announced his retirement as a professional yet. However, that may change soon as it has been reported by Shams Charania of The Vertical, that he is currently discussing with the Lakers the possibility of signing a one-day contract to retire with the team.

At some point, Odom will come full circle in Los Angeles, with plans being discussed for him to sign a contract to retire as a Laker in training camp.

“My family looks forward to me retiring as a Laker more than me,” Odom told The Vertical. “I’m not really emotional about being praised, about signing for a day. I’m shy at the end of the day. For my son, for my family, for my fans, they may enjoy that day. It’s for them.

“I ain’t celebrating not playing no more. In life though, I’ve learned to live with regrets.”

Odom made a name for himself as one of the most versatile players in the league during his time. His rare combination of size, coupled with the ability to act as a point forward, made him a nightmare matchup for opposing teams. That resulted to increased playing time, as he earned his coach’s trust to field him inside the court more.

He may have played for the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, and L.A.Clippers as well, but it will be very hard to deny him the opportunity to retire as a Laker. He was one of their most important players during his stint with them, and has also called Los Angeles his home for a lot of years now, which has endeared him to the team's fans and residents of the city.
