It is no secret that the Los Angeles Lakers are struggling this season. But a recent statistic provided by FanSided displays just how troublesome the Lakers' shooting woes have been so far in 2022-2023.

According to Fansided, the Lakers have the lowest catch-and-shoot percentage of any team since catch-and-shoot data became available in 2013. This means that the 2022-2023 Lakers have been the worst catch-and-shoot team ever since this data began getting tracked.

The Lakers are 2-8 as of this story's publication. They have other issues besides a lack of shooting. But their inability to hit jump shots is glaring. As a team, Los Angeles is shooting just over 44 percent from the field. Meanwhile, they have posted an abysmal 29 percent three-point rating from deep.

LeBron James previously made a comical analogy in reference to the Lakers' shooting shortcomings.

“We can’t shoot a penny in the ocean,” LeBron said.

Stephen A. Smith dropped a truth bomb on the matter as well.

“LeBron James and Anthony Davis, they’re kicking it out to open shooters y’all, they’re missing open shots. That is not something you can rectify. If you can’t shoot, you can’t shoot. You better get a deal done, because this is on the verge of a disaster.”

The Lakers need to make a decision. They need to either acquire multiple shooters and attempt to win, or blow it all up and begin trading their stars. Standing pat and hoping for the best is not going to work. It will be interesting to see what course of action they take.
