At seemingly every opportunity he gets, LaVar Ball has voiced nothing but praise towards his son, Lonzo, who is set to begin his rookie campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

During this entire process, the young Ball has been consistently compared to former All-Star point guard Jason Kidd due to his size and passing ability. During a recent radio interview with ESPNLA 710, LaVar did admit that his son may not have the same quick first step but in his eyes holds something else over Kidd.

“He could have a better first step, he can jump higher [talking about Kidd] but he ain’t gonna win like my boy. My boy wins.”

There is some credence to LaVar stating that his son wins as Lonzo led Chino Hill High School to a state title then helped transform UCLA into a powerhouse at the collegiate level that saw them post a 31-win season while reaching the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA tournament.

That said, Kidd did also experience much success in his NBA career helping take the then-New Jersey Nets to back-to-back NBA Finals and was a critical piece to the puzzle for the Dallas Mavericks in winning the 2011 NBA title.

The fact that Lonzo Ball is receiving comparison to Jason Kidd, who is regarded as one of the top point guards to ever play the game, is a huge compliment in its own right. He will have the opportunity to show if he can transfer that winning trend to the Lakers this upcoming season and beyond.
