Los Angeles Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis will miss the Lakers' preseason game against the Golden State Warriors on Monday night, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Davis may be out for much longer than that.

The big man suffered a sprained thumb during his team's exhibition loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night, and while the injury is not severe, there seems to be a good chance that Davis will miss Los Angeles' final three preseason contests, all of which are against the Warriors.

Meanwhile, James seems to be sitting out just for rest, which is not at all surprising considering he is 35 years old and doesn't exactly need to participate in a whole lot of preseason tuneups.

The Lakers have gone 1-2 over their first three exhibition affairs, first defeating Golden State on Oct. 5 and then losing back-to-back matchups against the Nets.

Los Angeles had a busy offseason, first acquiring Davis in a blockbuster trade with the New Orleans Pelicans back in June.

Then, after LA's free-agent pursuit of Kawhi Leonard failed, the Lakers signed veteran pieces such as Danny Green, Avery Bradley and Dwight Howard, all of whom are expected to play significant roles for Los Angeles this season.

The Lakers won just 37 games and missed the playoffs last year, marking their sixth straight season without a postseason appearance. It also represented the first time a James-led team did not qualify for the playoffs since James' second year in the NBA back in 2004-05.

The Lakers will open up their regular season against the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 22
