The basketball world was left in shock after what went down during Sunday's fiery matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Detroit Pistons. LeBron James was front and center in a near-brawl after he hit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart over the eye. Chaos ensued and is resulted in multiple ejections and technical fouls.

Several videos of the incident have already been making their rounds all over the internet and for the most part, it appears that LeBron immediately realized his mistake right after the hit. It also looks like LeBron tried to apologize to Stewart in the immediate aftermath of the incident. As it turns out, the Lakers star also attempted to “track down” the Pistons stud after the game.

This report comes via NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic:

“I'm told LeBron James did try to track down Isaiah Stewart's number post-game to apologize again and let him know it was an inadvertent hit,” Shams said (h/t Pat McAfee on Twitter).

As Shams implied in his report above, LeBron does not have a reputation for being a dirty player. We can only assume as to whether or not the punch was inadvertent, but what is clear is that the Lakers superstar has shown remorse for his actions.

It is unclear if LeBron was actually able to get a hold of Stewart's number after the game. Nevertheless, it does sound like cooler heads will now prevail and this issue should be settled between both players sooner rather than later.
