Los Angeles Lakers star had the chance to win the 2021-22 scoring title after dropping over 30 points per night. But, he needed to play in 58 games at the minimum in order to be eligible. The King ultimately suited up in 58 and decided to sit out the last few for the team after they were out of play-in contention.

On Monday, James explained why he couldn't care less about being named the scoring champ when the Lakers couldn't even make the playoffs. Via Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints:

LeBron said chasing the scoring title once the Lakers were eliminated from playoff contention would have been “so beneath me…I'm 19 years in. Going after a scoring title when you're not making the postseason is the whackest thing ever.”

The Lakers vet certainly has a point. It really doesn't matter how lethal he was all year, it didn't translate into success for LA. Bron's ultimate goal each and every season is to win an NBA title, no questions asked.

The 37-year-old averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 boards, and 6.2 assists in 2021-22, despite missing over 20 games. He is truly defying all the odds at his age and looks poised to do so again in Year 20. However, the Lakers will be looking to make some major changes this offseason to get this organization back into contention.
