Let the Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers rumors flare up even further.

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James reportedly hosted New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis for some dinner after their game on Friday night.

With Davis visiting Los Angeles for a scheduled contest, you just knew a story like this would come out. While there are no details on what went down with their social gathering, this definitely heats up the rumors of an impending pairing of the two generational talents in Hollywood.

The two superstars dueled throughout the night as James and the Lakers came out on top, 112-104. James led Los Angeles with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists, notching his third triple-double while donning the purple and gold. Davis, on the other hand, had a monster outing himself, notching 30 points, 20 rebounds, and five assists – the first 30/20/5 game of his career.

The loss further damages New Orleans' hopes of retaining Davis, who, despite playing at his best, was still on the losing end. This has been a recurring story for the Pelicans throughout this season, as they have failed to stay consistent after a surprising post-All Star break and playoff surge last season.

Over the past couple of days, the chatter of Davis heading over to the Lakers to create a monster pairing with James only grew louder following the three-time NBA champion's comments, saying that “it would be amazing” to play alongside the Pelicans stud. Many were up-in-arms over James' statement, including some executives from small-market teams, and accused the four-time MVP of tampering. James, however, dismissed those allegations, saying that “They can’t control me at all. And I play by the rules.”

With New Orleans failing to build a title-contending team around their franchise superstar, many expect the disgruntled forward to eventually move out of The Big Easy. Moreover, Davis aligning himself with James' agent Klutch Sports may have planted the seeds of an eventual move to Southern California. The statements made over the past week by James and Davis, along with this story coming out, only fire up the speculations.
