The Los Angeles Lakers are ready to begin a new winning streak, especially after they took care of the Denver Nuggets on the road. The Purple and Gold came away with a 105-96 victory against the NBA's top defensive team. LeBron James, who led the Lakers with 25 points, six rebounds, and nine assists, seems to be very happy with how his team performed against the Nuggets.

After the game, he posted this on Instagram.

Heading into the game, there was a lot of discussions about the Lakers' legitimacy as a contender. During the first one and a half months of the season, they had one of the easiest schedules in the league. However, they are starting to get tested.

Their 10-game winning streak was snapped a couple of days ago by the Dallas Mavericks, one of the top four teams in the Western Conference. Dallas is the league's top offensive team and it showed in their game against LA.

Following the loss to the Mavs, LeBron James and Anthony Davis made it clear that the Lakers do not want to lose two in a row, and they made sure to walk the talk against the Nuggets.

The Lakers were aggressive on both ends of the floor against Denver, who had no answer to LeBron and AD (25 points, 10 boards). LA also had key contributions from their reserves, as Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo finished with 13 and 11 points respectively.

Still, the Lakers' true identity as a contender will be put to the test as they have the toughest schedule in the NBA for the month of December. All of their 14 games this month will be against teams with winning records.

Next, they will take on the Utah Jazz in the second game of their back-to-back.
