At this point of his career, LeBron James can only be fully motivated by one person: LeBron James.
LeBron has heard it all. The praises, the invectives, the comparisons, the hairline jokes, and of course, JR Smith’s drunken diatribes. But kidding aside, The King previously said he doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone anymore. At 36 years old, the Los Angeles Lakers star is just focusing on himself and the team.
After they failed to defend their title in what was an injury-stricken campaign last season, LeBron is sure fired up to get back on the floor and get his fifth ring. Now, it looks like LBJ is using the Lakers’ early exit in the NBA Playoffs as his latest fuel to make a rousing return. He posted an Instagram Story a throwback picture of himself in a Miami Heat jersey with a caption that should warn the rest of the NBA.
“It’s not about (how) you fail. It’s about how you come back from it.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry should take note.
LeBron was perhaps alluding to the Heat’s failure in the 2011 NBA Finals despite being the heavy favorite against the Dallas Mavericks. The Heat blew a 2-1 series lead and lost in six games. But LeBron and company bounced back, winning back-to-back titles.
The Lakers were on track to make another deep run last season, but injuries to LeBron and Anthony Davis derailed their campaign. But with an extended rest, a revamped roster, and not lacking in personal motivation, LeBron James will be a man on a mission once again.
