Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has become just the fourth player to ever record multiple 40-point games against San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.

James notched 20 of his 42 points on the night in the fourth quarter, as he helped the Lakers earn their fourth straight home win with the 121-113 victory over the Spurs.

And in the process of another career 40-point night for LeBron James, he made some history.

From the official SportsCenter Twitter account:

LeBron James is the 4th player to record multiple 40-pt games against Gregg Popovich, joining Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson and Amar'e Stoudemire.

That's certainly an impressive feat when you consider the incredible career achievements of Gregg Popovich.

He's one of the best coaches to ever step on the sideline, but not even he can draw up a formula for slowing down a phenom like LeBron James.

After a slow start for the Lakers this season, they've now won 13 of 17 games and sit at 15-9 on the year. James continues to make everyone around him better, and that's helped Luke Walton's team really find a rhythm as of late.

The Lakers will take their show on the road on Friday in a rematch with the Spurs in San Antonio.

Could LeBron James go for 40 points one more time against Gregg Popovich's squad? That may be hard to do, but we've learned not to put anything past the Lakers superstar and his ridiculous talents.
