The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Utah Jazz Friday in Salt Lake City, and superstar small forward LeBron James will not travel with the team.

James is still recovering from the groin injury he sustained on Christmas Day against the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena. The four-time MVP will have his medical re-evaluation on Friday in Los Angeles while the team is in Utah:

The Lakers are 22-19 on the year. They have gone 2-5 since LeBron James went down. LA hosts the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night at Staples Center.

In 34 games this season for the Lakers, James is averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists. The King is shooting 51.8 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from beyond the arc and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.

LeBron, 34, has 17 double-doubles and three triple-doubles on the year.

As expected, the Lakers have struggled on both sides of the ball without James in the lineup. The team is averaging 107.0 points and giving up 111.4 points in the seven games that LeBron has missed.

We will likely know when James could possibly return to the floor after his evaluation on Friday. It has been exactly two weeks since LeBron suffered the injury in Golden State. This is the longest James has been out of action since the 2014-15 season.
