Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball has a tattoo on his right arm that says “BBB,” which stands for Big Baller Brand. Ball made his preseason debut Wednesday night against the Golden State Warriors and had a patch over the tattoo. Many were wondering why that was, and now we have our answer.

The NBA reached out to Ball and told him to cover up the tattoo, according to TMZ. The league prohibits players from displaying any commercial logos or corporate insignia on their body or in their hair. If Ball didn't cooperate, he would have been fined.

Ball is in the same camp as Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard J.R. Smith. The NBA told Smith to cover up his “Supreme” tattoo on his right leg. Smith reportedly tried to talk to the league about it, but NBA officials didn't budge.

In 23 minutes of action versus the Warriors, Ball scored seven points for the Lakers, and he also registered four rebounds, two assists and four steals. The former No. 2 overall pick shot 3-of-5 from the field. His highlight of the night was when he caught an alley-oop from LeBron James that made the Las Vegas crowd go wild. After the game, Ball said his surgically repaired left knee felt good.
