One team that is hoping to have a big off-season is the Los Angeles Lakers. They have been connected to both Paul George and LeBron James and many believe they could build their own “Big 3” but that isn't exactly what Magic Johnson wants.

“We had to show that we have really good young players, and we did that,” Johnson told Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated. “That’s what guys and their agents want to see: ‘If I put my talent with your talent, can we win?’ I think we proved you can.”

One model he thinks has been successful has been that of the Boston Celtics who got Kyrie Irving and built around him.

“Kyrie Irving got with young, talented players,” Johnson said. “It’s not that you have to have a Big Three anymore. You have to have young horses to go with a superstar or two.”

The Lakers have no shortage of young guys who are good pieces to build around. Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, and Brandon Ingram have all proven that they are guys that can be apart of a playoff team.

There had been rumors swirling around this week that the Lakers might try to trade for Kawhi Leonard if he becomes available but that would probably require the Lakers to give up one of those young guys mentioned above.

It sure sounds like from Magic's comments though that the Lakers would probably like to keep those guys. It will be interesting to see how this summer works out for the Lakers but one thing is for sure, they are going to be aggressive.
